Kenya: Somali troops in need of food aid village

BUR GARBO, Somalia

That has left Somalia at this small beach town dependent on help from Kenya, the military again asked aid agencies to step over the distribution of scarce food Wednesday.

Kenya is clearly aware that the ultimate success of their mission in Somalia depends on improving the lives of residents. But it is also clear that they did not plan to do it all yourself.

“Except for humanitarians can help these people now, it may endanger our operations,” said Mayor Solomon Wandege.

Kenya sent troops to Somalia last October after a series of kidnappings and attacks on land of Kenya. But what was initially hailed as a punitive military strikes has been a long-term commitment.
